Winter Recital 2024

We are thrilled to share the incredible success of our Winter Recital, which took place on Saturday, January 20th, and Sunday, January 21st 2023!The event showcased the immense talent and dedication of our students, making it a weekend to remember.
Our students truly shone as they took the stage, demonstrating the skills they've honed through hard work and commitment during their lessons. From the youngest beginners to the advanced virtuosos, every performer brought their unique flair and passion for music to the audience!
The Winter Recital was a celebration of musical diversity, featuring a wide range of instruments and genres. The performances were not just a showcase of technical prowess but also a testament to the joy and love that our students have for their craft. The supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere in the audience added to the overall warmth and magic of the event.
We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the performers for their outstanding efforts and the dedication they demonstrated in preparing for this event. It is evident that the WMA community is brimming with talent and passion for music, and we couldn't be prouder!

Spring Recital Dates!
As we bask in the success of the Winter Recital, we're already looking forward to our next grand event. Mark your calendars because Westmont Music Academy is pleased to announce another spectacular recital coming up in June! The Spring June Recital dates are: Sunday, June 2nd & Sunday, June 9th. We guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience filled with more remarkable performances and musical brilliance!

Are you ready to take your musical skills to new heights? Our 100 Day Practice Challenge is designed to inspire and motivate musicians of all levels to commit to daily practice, fostering discipline and a deeper connection with their instrument.
This challenge is tailored for students of any age and instrument. Set your personal goals, be it mastering a challenging piece, improving technique, or enhancing your musical expression.

What Can You Practice?
- All of the assignments from your last lesson.
- Anything tricky.
- Old pieces that you love.
- All the scales you know.
- A new piece you haven’t started yet.
- Improvise (make it up as you go).
- Compose (make it up and write it down).
- Work out a song by ear.
- Sightread from a sight-reading book, or any book a few levels below your current pieces.
- Practice note naming flashcards or use app: “Flashnote Derby” or “Staff Wars’’ (Android & Apple)
- Do some pages in your theory workbook.
- Listen to your pieces (CD, YouTube).
- Listen to your pieces while playing along with the sheet music.
- Practice clapping rhythms.
- Practice note naming flashcards or use app: “Flashnote Derby” or “Staff Wars’’(Android & Apple)
- Write down every dynamic and tempo mark you know, without looking in your book.
- Sing your pieces instead of playing them. If there are no words, make up your own.
- Go through your pieces naming all the intervals (distances between the notes) if applicable to your current level.
- Learn about a famous composer.
- Read a book or online about music history or music theory.
- Learn about music time periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic).
- Compose a piece on staff paper. Sing it to yourself to see how it might sound.
A New Type of Music Class for Children & Toddlers
This private early childhood music lesson program for ages 3-6 gives students a head start in music in a FUN way! Unlike other music lessons for students this age, this program by Animal Adventures in Music teaches a robust, comprehensive curriculum, covering topics from rhythm to note reading to instrument introduction and exposure, all through games, activities, and fun weekly homework!
Lessons in an individual, one-to-one format (one teacher, one student) give students the ability to move at their own pace and explore their own interests. The private one-to-one feel of the program ensures that no child is going to be rushed to grasp a concept and they can take their time exploring the world of music and have a blast while doing it!
We chose this curriculum because not only does it teach kids the basics of music theory, it also tells engaging stories.
We are accepting new AAM students anytime!
